The word intrada means introduction in italian. In Europe of XVI-XVII centuries it designated music for festive processions. In XVII century intrada became a part of instrumental suite, and in XIX-XX centuries the word began to be used as a title of musical pieces. For us the name unites different epochs and styles - the same as we do in our repertoire.

Ensemble “INTRADA” was founded in 2003 in the Musical College M.P.Musorgski, St.-Petersburg, class of Nikolay Shubin. Now the musicians study in St.-Petersburg State Conservatory. They are laureates of the International Folk Music Contest in Petrozavodsk (2004). 

Our instruments, together with the common school of performance, contribute to the uniformity and harmony of sound, as are made specially for the ensemble by G.A. Sidorsky.
